Bolton heavily defeated by Cheshire Cup Winners

If Bolton were knocked down to earth by Eccles the previous Sunday then this Sunday they were driven underground by a strong Lymm set up.

Bolton should have entertained Vale of Lune in the Blacksticks League but when Vale's team folded this friendly fixture was arranged with Lymm to take it's place.

Lymm who are 5 years on the trot Cheshire Cup winners arrived at Bolton with a healthy looking squad.

From the kick off Lymm took every opportunity to run at the Bolton defence and half hearted tackling led to tries almost right away.

The first ten minutes of the game were the worst Bolton have played all season with Lymm turning Bolton's possession over at every breakdown, lineout and scrum. All of which led to try after try.

But for James Evans (Pictured) at full back Lymm would have recorded at least a try a minute in that 1st 10 minutes.Bolton rallied round for the latter part of the first half with stronger defence but the Lymm backs had a good step on each and everyone of them so Bolton's blitz defence was having little effect.Clearly this was a mis-match of a fixture and Bolton heads dropped.

The second half was much of the same, and when a team is losing possession at set pieces as well as in open play at the breakdown
it doesn't leave much to salvage. A short passage of play by Bolton in the second half in the Lymm 22 area led to a consolation try for Bolton scored by Dan Southworth at 8 after a scrum. Zak Grundy converted the try which was the highlight of Bolton's game from near to the touch line.

Lymm came to Bolton today and showed Bolton what they could achieve with hard work, but there is a long way to go judging by Sunday's performance.Final score was 11 tries to 1 to Lymm with approximately half of their tries converted.

Next week we travel up to Kirkby Lonsdale our last match of 2013.

Player of the match and Tackler award goes to James Evans
Most contribution to Milo Holmes at scrum half who stuck with it although always under pressure.
