Injury to Josh Grundy mars victory v Aldwinians

The under 14's entertained Aldwinians at home but there game was certainly not as entertaining as late. There was something missing in this game but the coaches couldn't quite put their fingers on it. The game was pretty much stalemate for the opening 15 minutes with only Sam Dawson on the wing and Joe Fraser-Taylor making things work for the home side. Sam made a trademark dash down the right wing but was tackled short of the line and Joe was excelling in the tackle area at outside centre.
Morgan Skeels-Caldwell broke the deadlock on 20 minutes after a fine driving maul from the Bolton forwards after a lineout took the ball over the Aldwinians line.
Ben Turner just missed the conversion but it was a fine kick. Highlight of the half was Tom Crook standing forwards up in the choke tackle.
Aldwinians were a much improved side from the last time the two teams met and this was with two of their best players missing due to be rested for a schools cup final next week.
The second half was much the same with the game going either way.
Aldwinians pacey wing and full back were causing Bolton all sorts of trouble but Sam Dawson wasn't going to let them past him.
Then the game was marred by Josh Grundy breaking his collar bone for the second time in rugby. It was the opposite shoulder this time and to make things worse Josh had been selected in the squad for the Manchester District of Lancashire Rugby.
15 minutes into the second half Tom Crook got his just rewards with a fine try which Ben Turner converted. Final score 12 v 0
Not the best performance by Bolton by far this season but they ground out a home win against a much improved Aldwinians side.
Everybody in the squad, the coaches and parents wish Josh a speedy recovery, he will be greatly missed until next season.
