Getting closer but u14's miss out in a 12 try bonanza

Originally scheduled to play against Waterloo, Bolton substituted Macclesfield instead. The pitch was firm, the sun was out and the keen breeze didn't reach into the hollow of pitch 3.
Macclesfield are one of the top teams in Cheshire, Bolton knew they would have to be at their best and half-term (and an NFL game) cost them some of their regular starters. They also had a few new players to integrate into the ever expanding squad.
Three minutes in Macc scored down the left wing to make it 0-5, when Bolton believed the referee had called a scrum only to find out he was playing advantage. From the restart Bolton won possession and advanced towards the Macc line, held up over the line the resultant 5 mtr scrum saw Bolton again gain ground and after a couple of mauls Daniel McGuiness picked from the back of a ruck and with the help of Jack Good touched down. Archie Stocks converted to make it 7-5. Macc's kick-off didn't go 10, Bolton elected for the scrum, #8 Jacob Audley picked up, fed Fafa Mandumgumana, who found Archie, a couple of side-steps saw Macc cover to the right but Bolton passed the ball left and the ball passed thru' a number of backs before Ben Hammond scored in the corner, 12-5 after 10 mins.
Under the new 'Half Game' ruling Bolton swapped a number of players on 13 mins, Mac scored after 14 probably due to the re-positioning, so 12-10. With under a minute to go Macc added a further try, when some lackluster tackling saw them ground in the left corner, the missed conversion saw a half time score of 12-15. Confusingly, the referee insisted on the restart being taken and a very confused Bolton team, instructed to 'just take the kick off' were bemused when Macc recovered the ball and ran in for an unopposed try, 12-20.
Whilst no half time oranges appeared, Bolton rang further changes and pressed the Macc defence, eventually the ball got to Fafa, who took innumerable Macc defenders with him as he touched down after 2 mins, 19-20. Five minutes later the Macc right wing ran the ball into the corner, a lack of concentration saw Bolton allow him to saunter under the posts, so for the 1st time Macc converted a try, 19-27. Josh Bentley Hughes had arrived at half time and after 11 mins recovered a ball in broken play around half way, he simply accelerated thru' the bewildered Macc defence , bizarrely the simple conversion was missed, so only 24-27. A period of even play was broken after 19 mins when Macc released their very speedy left wing and with the conversion the score edged out to 24-34. Perhaps Bolton tried too hard to make something from the re-start and a mis-placed pass saw Macc run in again within a minute, 24-41. Bolton were not finished tho', in a final pulsating 5 minutes they battered away at the Macc line, finally rewarded when Jacob grounded and Archie got the conversion for a final score of 31-41.
Hopefully Bolton learned from this experience, the referee is always right (even when he's wrong), there's no point being good for 20 mins, if you let your concentration slip for the other 5 and the oppo score 3 tries BUT we should remember that this is only their 4th game as a team and some of these lads hadn't even met the others before last Sunday. Roll on next Sunday.
