AKA The one where Logan played for Sedgeley

Bolton Under 14’s made the short journey to near neighbours Sedgeley Park in what turned out to be a one sided game against opposition weakened by illnesses.

On a heavy pitch, Sedgeley could only field 14 players and Bolton agreed to reduce their numbers accordingly. From the off, Bolton stamped their authority on the game with a Leon Hodson try under the posts , as he ran on to a well timed lay off from Harry McDermott in the very first minute. After ten minutes scrum half Sam Mcdowell put in a huge tackle to win the ball, before Captain Ben Price made a fine run down the left and drew the Sedgeley defence to him before popping a pass to that man Hodson in space, who ran in his second try to double the lead. Bolton number eight, Oskar Chadderton used his power to force the ball over the line on 14 minutes for his first ever try for Bolton. Shortly before half time, McDermott got in on the action with a move that found him wide on the wing and he evaded the defence to find the corner.

Sedgeley lost a player through injury and Bolton second row Logan Singleton, having a fine game for his own team changed sides and performed magnificently for the Home side for the rest of the match. Bolton used the opportunity to experiment with their lineup and George Jackson moved to full back for a while and the pack positions were rotated.

It is a rare match that does not see a try by flanker Oliver Keogh and he scored two fine solo efforts in the second half separated by a try from Fred Holt Gregson which showcased his trademark pace and strength. It fell to Hodson to cap the match by scoring another brace of tries to bring his try tally to four for the match and to leave the score 51 points to Bolton without reply.

Bolton ‘s next match is the final group stage in the cup competition and a win against Aldwinians is vital for them to have a chance of finishing top of their group.
